FAQs
Are you new to the beautifully-sparkly world of Tooth Gems? Look no further, we have some Frequently Asked Questions answered here down below!
Q : Who is not eligible for Tooth Gems?
A : Unfortunately there are some teeth not suitable for Tooth Gems.
The Bonding agent will only adhere to natural tooth tissues, therefore, fake teeth, fillings, braces, and veneers are not suitable for Tooth Gems.
You must have good dental health and be able to have regular dental cleanings performed every six months as needed, as well as good overall oral hygiene!
Any teeth with cracks, chips, white spots, cavities or any other dental issues must be avoided.
Q : Is the Gem application safe?
A : Absolutely! I am fully certified and use only dental grade materials. The Tooth Gem is adhered to the tooth using a special bond also used to apply dental braces.
The Gems used are lead-free, nickel-free, scratch resistant Swarovski crystals, 18K Gold & Opal charms safe for oral use!
Q : How do Tooth Gems work?
A : Once the tooth has been cleaned and dried, it is then primed to protect the enamel. A dental bond/ adhesive is used to apply the lead-free crystal or 18K charm and cured for a long lasting bond.
NO drilling necessary, painless and reversible!
Q : Does it hurt?
A : NO! The Tooth Gem application is completely safe and non-invasive. No pain, no drilling
Q : How long do they last?
A : Tooth Gems are semi-permanent and can last anywhere from 1 month to two years!
The longevity of Tooth Gems will vary depending on the placement of the Gem, as well as the client's at home maintenance. Be sure to follow after care instructions carefully and book in with your dentist for regular cleanings.
Q : What if my Gem falls off?
A : No problem! This can, and does happen. The crystals and charms used are safe to be in your mouth, if you swallow anything you will be OK!
If the Gem falls off naturally within the 21 day warranty period, and all after care protocols were followed correctly, I will happily book you in for your complimentary replacement! Luxury pieces such as 18K Gold and Opals will require to be re-ordered.
Q : Can you remove my Gems?
A : NO! Tooth Gems should never be removed at home. ONLY a dental professional should remove your Tooth Gems.
To have your Tooth Gems removed, contact your local dental office and book yourself in for a cleaning. You can also ask for a "Scale & Polish". The Gem will be removed safely, any leftover adhesive will be buffed off. This process is quick, easy and painless!
It is NOT recommended to forcibly remove Gems on yur own, as this can result in damage to the enamel.
Q : Will my Gem affect regular use of tooth brush?
A : NO! Your Tooth Gem should not affect your regular brushing routine, it is recommended to use a soft bristle tooth brush and go over the gem gently. I would advise against the use of your electric tooth brush on teeth adorned in Gems.
Q : Will I need to pay to have my Gems removed?
A : There may be an extra charge for your Gem removal during your booked cleaning, though this will depend on the scale of design you've chosen. All dental offices are different, you are encouraged to consult with your dental office and inquire about any additional fees for a removal.
Q : Are you going to drill my tooth?
A : NO! There is absolutely no drilling or pain involved in the Tooth Gem application. The process is safe, easy, and semi-permanent!
Q : Is my retainer compatible with Tooth Gems?
A : Though it isn't recommended to alter the placement of your dental retainer, you are more than welcome to bring it to your appointment. We will place the Tooth Gems in safe locations that wont affect the retainer and will still be visible.
Q : Is there a Warranty on my Gems?
A : It is very crucial that clients follow the after care information provided after completion of the service in order to prevent premature loss of Gems. If clients are unable to follow instructions and go against the directions given, warranty will be VOID and you will be required to cover the cost of the service to reapply.
* If the Gem has fallen off naturally and the after care instructions have been followed, clients are given a 21 day replacement Warranty.
